Mustard and Blue

Is matching too much a bad thing? I don't think so.  There is something so eye-catching about a perfectly put together ensemble.  Not that I am against not matching.  In fact I often don't match.  But sometimes I get it right and I like to think this outfit is one of those times. Got to love it.

Piano Dress

These photos were taken by Hanna Stolarski. Besides being an excellent photographer, hopefully she will become a new contributor to this blog! Her style has been featured here before and it has only gotten better. She also lets me roll around in bushes for pictures which I LOVE to do! Yay for adventure photo shoots.
I always fall in love with clothes because of little details or because of the texture.  I scored with this dress because it has both.  How does a girl get so lucky?
I love this dress because of the ethereal vibe and intricate embroidery. It also is unlike any of my other dresses which is always fun to mix things up.

Skirt

Today I made a skirt. That's right. Made.  I sat and cut and pinned and sewed and the end result was a skirt!  It was such a fun and rewarding experience. I paired my new skirt with my  Truly Madly Deeply tiger crop top, and loose, fluffy ended braids. I opted for no makeup, liking that the skirt was the brightest color and drew the most attention. I love my new skirt!

Buttons

My friend Helen Petty is a fantastic photographer and we love going out on photo walks together. Last time she snapped a few pictures of me and is letting me use them here! I felt a little retro so I paired a mustard knee length skirt with round brown buttons with a brown button down blouse that I tied at the waist. I accented with a red head band and my favorite lipstick. I finished off the outfit with mismatching earrings, cat eyed sunnies, a long coat, my utility boots and my turkish carpet bag.

Let's hope it Spring sticks around.

Hot Boston

Oh the lovely heat in Boston. How is it my warm California home is cold when I visit, but my supposed to be freezing Boston home is a toaster? Well I am not complaining now. I get to shed the tights and wear dresses, skirts and shorts with my lovely pale bare legs!

Velvet Blazer is Free People, tank-top is Free People, shorts are cut off men's pants from Target, floral scarf is Target, sandals are from Italy, belt is hand-me-down from grandma
I hope the heat stays!

ps. what do you think of the scarves in hair trend? I personally am obsessed.

Pretty Hippie

With summer heat beating down on Beantown, pretty fashions are breaking out all over the streets.  Alex Hyken looked lovely today in a Hippie inspired ensemble. The flowing pink top works perfectly in the summery heat. She is rocking a flared jean with adorable brown sandals. She has such a breezy summer style, and how cute is her bag?

What is your favorite way to dress in the heat?
